This was a particularly annoying duck to draw. He would stand (or swim) in place until I started to sketch him.
He also had a staring contest with a small dog, who had to be dragged away by his owner –he wouldn’t answer a call as long as the duck was looking at him.

If you know me, you know my never-ending love of childrens books, especially illustrated and picture books. Maurice Sendak was the writer and/or illustrator of a lot of my favorites. He had a lot of influence on me. I’ve spent most of my time since I heard yesterday trying to come up with something meaningful to say, but that’s all I’ve got.

Sketch from 4/20. This is the start of a series of sketches with the Pentel pocket brush pen. I was trying to get the hang of how to control it. This was an attempt at sketching a brush-painted picture in a Chinese restaurant. here in Munich –it was challenging, copying a grayscale-and-peach painting with a black pen!

I love the Sanguine (Rötel in German) pen from Pitt –well, I love the color it is, anyway.
